Want to buy a fiber laser? Tips that should pay attention to when purchasing.
Buying a fiber laser machine is a considerable investment for most companies, which is why it is smart to orient yourself well in advance about what is offered. At first glance, fiber laser machines from different suppliers are very similar, but there are differences. At Bogong we believe basic on same prices, our machine performance is the better one. Below is a brief summary of points that we think a good fiber laser should meet.
1. Laser source of a fiber laser machine
Laser source value is around 70%-75% of whole machine. So this is the core and the most important part. Pls do not mind to choose one stable laser source. Becuase if laser source has problem, you have to return the laser source to China for repair, then send back to you. For sure it will take times. If you are happen to a busy season, could you wait maybe at least 2-3 weeks for repairing your laser source?
The popular laser source brand is IPG brand, JPT brand, Raycus brand, and Max brand. IPG is the Germany brand, famous in the world, so the price is the most expensive. But most of customers cannot afford IPG brand laser source, so in laser marking machine series, IPG brand is not popular.
Next one, JPT brand and Raycus brand. Raycus brand is very famous in China also, they also have longest history than other laser source brand. Their quality is very good in past years. But now changed, maybe because selling more and more, maybe changed some core parts inside laser source, anyway the problem failure is increasing in recent 2 years. But it doesn’t mean it is bad. It is still a good one compare to other brands. JPT brand is becoming famous in recent years. JPT started from Mopa laser source, then gradually enter into Q switched laser source market also. Their laser source structure is mopa even if with LP series(Q switched), so their frequency is more widely than Raycus. And price is a little higher than Raycus laser source. According to our experience, JPT and Raycus are good.
We didn’t use Max, so don’t know about its failure ratio, cannot comment it.
If you choose JPT and Raycus, also need to pay attention to the model. There are many different models, especially 20w and 30w. Whole fiber laser machine price difference mainly because of laser source price difference. Some suppliers also use refurished laser source instead of new laser source, that we really cannot tell it from the outlook or one or two pictures.
2. Galvo head of a fiber laser machine
Now the popular model is Sino brand. It is a good brand. But same as the laser source, there are many different models. For example, 7110 may is common, but 7110 at least has 3 different model, just like RC7110, RC7110-A, SG7110 etc., luckily, we can tell them from the machine photos or from the nameplate of galvo head. So not only to ask machine photos, better ask laser source and galvo head nameplate photos before you place order and before machine delivery to check if all is same.
3. Fiber laser software
Ezcad is the popular one. Now the copy version Ezcad is reducing because the oiginal Ezcad board price almost same as copy one. So most of supplier change to original board. Same as above, there are many versions. If simple standard machine, then standard LMCV4 board is fine. Just tell them you need rotary axis function. Because standard board doesn’t have rotary axis function. If you want to add rotary axis in the future, you have to change board. So directly ask one original board with rotary axis function is the best choice. We have extensively described the software supplied in our EzCAD tutorial. Importing graphic objects (image and vector), fast drawing yourself, entering text or (automatic numbering) serial numbers is quick and easy.
